Mourinho Gone, Gone, Gone

Jose Mourinho, (above) was sacked this week.

Well, it finally happened.

After losing 3-1 to Liverpool on the weekend, Manchester United gave manager, Jose Mourinho, the boot.

It was no surprise, really.

There's been speculations for months.

Manchester United's inconsistency had landed the team in sixth place on the English Premier League's table.

Man. U. fans won't stand for that.

It was no surprise that Mourinho had nothing to say to the media the day after he was sacked.

Norway's Ole Gunnar Solskjaer takes over as interim manager until May of 2019.

Liverpool remains in top spot with the win.

In the eight months as manager, Southampton had just five wins in 27 games and are in 18th place in the English Premier League table.

A search for a new manager is underway.

Meanwhile, Kelvin Davis takes over temporarily.

Manchester City is just unstoppable this season.

The Woes Continue For Man. U.

Manchester United continues to struggle.

The team played to a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace this past weekend, a team Man. U. ought to beat.

Newcastle United is starting to get things going.

Down at the bottom of the English Premier League's table a few weeks ago, Newcastle has now won three straight.

I had to choose two matches of the week.  Both in Serie A.

AC Milan was on the verge of winning 1-0 when Lazio scored the equalizer in stoppage time.

The other match of the week goes to Genoa verses Samporia.

The Italian league derby was an exciting match with a really loud crowd to go with it.  This match also ended 1-1.

Injury Trouble For Liverpool

(Above) Sadio Mane

Mohamed Salah

Liverpool fans won't be happy about this.

Two of their star players were injured playing for their country in the international break.

First, Egyptian superstar, Mohamed Salah, suffered a muscle injury.

Then, Sadio Mane suffered a minor hand injury and had to undergo surgery.

No word on Salah's status, but Mane had to undergo surgery and won't be playing this weekend.

This is bad timing for Liverpool.

After a really good start to the season, the team has cooled off a bit.

Their last two games prior to the break were draws.

Laurent Koscielny announced his retirement from football this week.  Laurent is 33.

Barcelona announced this week that the team is set to look for a centre back this winter.

Monaco Fires Jardim. Hazard Leaving Chelsea?

(Above) Leonardo Jardim

I basically had everything I needed to write this week's blog entry.

Then, this morning, I found a headline about Monaco of the French league, Ligue 1, firing their manager, Leonardo Jardim.

I knew that this had to be the story to start off this week's entry.

Monaco probably sacked Jardim because the team have just won a single game this season.

A single victory won't help a manager from losing his job.

Jardim has been with Monaco four seasons.

The other big news story this week is Eden Hazard potentially going to Spain to play for Real Madrid.

Reports were indicating Hazard was going to go to Spain in January, but the rumors were squashed earlier today.

Hazard is probably going to stay with Chelsea FC. until the end of the 2018/19 English Premier League season.

Eden Hazard

Speaking of the EPL.,  there's a three way tie on top of the standings.

Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea all have 20 points.

Liverpool and Manchester City played to a 0-0 draw on Saturday (Oct. 6).

Good news for Manchester City.  Kevin DeBruyn is scheduled back on the pitch on October 20.

Chelsea defeated Southampton 3-0.

Finally, the match of the week goes to Manchester United verses Newcastle United.

After going down 2-0, Man. U. made a miraculous comeback to beat Newcastle 3-2.

No club football this weekend because of the international break.

West Ham Nch o Longer The Laughing Stalk. Cech Injured

(Above) Eden Hazard now leads the Premier League in goals.

West Ham United was the laughing stalk of the Premier League with no points a few weeks ago.

Not anymore.

Since then, West Ham has two wins and a draw after defeating Manchester United 3-1 on Saturday (Sept. 29).

As for Manchester United, it was probably the worse loss the team has had all year.

The team played terribly.

It is Man. U's worse start in 29 years.

The game of the week has to go to Chelsea verses Liverpool.

The teams played to a 1-1 draw.

Eden Hazard scored the first goal of the match, giving him six goals this season.

Hazard now leads the Premier League in goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo didn't score this week, but he did get three assists in a 3-1 Juventus win over Napoli in Serie A football.

Finally, Arsenal confirmed this week that their goalkeeper, Petr Cech is injured and is out for three to four weeks.

Things In Manchester Gets Uglier

(Above) Paul Pogba

Jose Maurinho

This week, I had two big headlines to write in today's blog entry.

I thought I had it all figured out earlier this week on what headline I was going to focus on first.  That is, until yesterday.

I was going to write about the firing of Vancouver Whitecaps head coach, Carl Robinson first.

That all changed yesterday when news broke out of Manchester.

Manchester United's manager, Jose Maurinho stripped Paul Pogba of his vice-captaincy this week.

After playing to a disappointing 1-1 draw to Wolves on Saturday (Sept. 22), Pogba criticized Maurinho defensive tactics, saying the team ought to attack more.

Then, Man. U. lost to Derby County on penalty kicks in a league cup match on Tuesday night.

Manchester United is in a real mess right now.

Now on to the firing of Robinson.

The Whitecaps of Major League Soccer, (MLS) fired Robinson earlier this week.

Robinson was appointed head coach of the Whitecaps in 2013.

He recorded a regular season MLS record of 64-59-42 and a 78-71-50 across all competitions.

Robinson guided Vancouver to three playoff appearances, including, two Western Conference semifinals, a Canadian Championship in 2015 and a semifinal appearance in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2016/17.

A comprehensive search for a new coach is going to begin immediately.

Meanwhile, Academy technical director, Craig Dairymple is now the acting head coach.

The Whitecaps are just five points out of a playoff spot in the West Division.

(Above) Carl Robinson

Finally in the Premier League, Liverpool sits all alone in first place with a 6-0 record after defeating Southampton on the weekend 3-0.

Chelsea's perfect record ended when the team played to disappointing  0-0 draw to West Ham on Sunday, (Sept. 23).

Costa Banned For Four. Hazard Gets Hat-Trick

Douglas Costa, (left) got a four game ban for spitting at Federico Franceso (right)

There were two big news stories in Serie A this week.  Both involved Juventus.

Douglas Costa has been banned for four Serie A matches for spitting, elbowing, and attempting to head butt Sassuolo's Federico Franceso in a 2-1 Juventus win on Sunday (Sept. 18).

Before the incident, though, Cristiano Ronaldo finally broke through by scoring his first two goals of the season.

Now to Premier League action.

Eden Hazard got his second ever Chelsea hat-trick on Saturday in a 4-1 win over Cardiff City.

Eden Hazard

Manchester United ended Watford's perfect record on Saturday with a 2-1 win.

Chelsea is first and Liverpool is second in the Premier League standings with 5-0 records.

Finally, West Ham is no longer dead last in the PL. standings.  The team won their first game this week, defeating Everton 3-1.

Burnley now sits in last place.

Trouble In Manchester

(Above) Paul Pogba

There was no club football this weekend because of the International Break, however, there were two rather big news stories worth mentioning.

Both stories involve, you guess it, Manchester United.

Apparently, French superstar, Paul Pogba, isn't getting along with United's manager, Jose Maurinho.

This revaluation  probably means Pogba's time with Man. U.  is almost up.

Speculation is that Pogba is going elsewhere after this season.

Word has it that Pogba has his sights on Barcelona.

More bad news for Manchester United.

Luke Shaw suffered a concussion last week, playing for England in a National League match against Spain.

Shaw is going to miss two Premier League games.

Things Got Heated A Bit This Week

(Above) Kylian Mbappe got sent off for shoving an opponent this past week.

Things got a bit heated this week in international football.

First, the big story was French phenomenon, Kylian Mbappe, being red carded for shoving Nime's midfielder, Teji Savanier, to the ground in a match earlier this week.

Mbappe was reacting to a challenge by Savanier.

Mbappe, however, has no regets.  He told the press the day after the incident that he'd do it again.

Savanier also was red carded.

 (Above) Marcus Rashford

There was also a red carded incident in the Premier League this past weekend.

Manchester United's Marcus Rashford was sent off in Sunday's (Sept. 2) match against Burnley for head butting Phil Bardsley.

Manchester defeated Burnley 2-0, snapping their losing streak.

Since Manchester United won their match this week, the focus turned towards West Ham United.

West Ham were seconds away of picking up their first point of the season when Adama Traores scored for Wolves in injury time to give his team the win.

The fans booed the West Ham players off the field.

West Ham is 0-4 with no points and are dead last in the Premier League.

Liverpool, Watfield, and Chelsea round out the top three in the standings with 4-0 records.

No club football this week as the leagues go on their first international break of the year.

Respect, Respect, Repsect

A((Above) Jose Mourinho demanded respect from the media at Monday's (Aug. 20) post game press conference.

Manchester United was in the news again this week.

Manager, Jose Mourinho stormed out of Monday's post game press conference after a 3-0 United loss to Tottenham.

United played good in the first half, but poorly in the second.

In the press conference, Mourinho reminded the media about the success he has had with the team over the years.

Frustrated with the line of questioning, Mourinho bursted out of the press conference demanding respect.

Despite all this, the Manchester United board announced yesterday that they'll continue to back Mourinho.

The big surprise this week in the Premier League was Manchester City playing to a draw against Wolves.

The draw drops City from first to fifth place in the standings.

Mohamed Salah's winning goal this week puts Liverpool in first place in the Premier League.

(Top) Mohamed Salah

Liverpool, Tottenham, Watford, and Chelseas all have perfect 3-0 records.

Speaking of Chelsea, word has it that the team is going up for sale in the near future.

Huddersfield is no longer in last place in the standings.  That belongs to West Ham United, who are now 0-3.

Finally, I have to mention a Bundesliga match I watched this week.

In a 2-1 Wolfsberg win over Schalke, there was eight yellow cards and two red cards.

Daniel  Ginczek scored the winning goal for Wolfsberg in added time.

What A Week in English Football

What a week in the Premier League.

Manchester United was on the hot seat this week after the team lost to Brighton 3-2 on Sunday, (August 19).

On Monday morning, news broke out that former Liverpool player, Danny Murphy called out Man. U's manager, Jose Mourinho.

Murphy predicted the Mourinho won't last the season.

As the week went on, there was more mud slinging going towards the team and the players.

The latest.

The fans plan to fly a banner at this weekend's match against Burnley, showing their dismay over Manchester United's ownership.

Chelsea has started off the season with two wins, however, the team was really lucky to get the 3-2 victory over Arsenal.  The team allowed Arsenal to rally back from a 2-0 deficit.

Manchester City are on a roll.

City won their second game in a row, defeating newly promoted Huddersfield 6-1 last weekend.

Huddersfield is 0-2 and are in last place in the Premier Division.

Good news for Ligue 1's PSG.  Kylian Mbappe scored two goals against Guingamp, despite not being in the starting line up.

Finally this week, Gemany's Bundesliga starts this weekend.
